Parents’ ‘marriage.
Gustaw Wisoky Autobiography
*******
My mother is the daughter of a clerk in the Cozla mine.

My mother and my father only had a civil wedding ( a Hungarian one) the reason that a church wedding did not take place after the civil one , despite the Weizenried priest having friendly relations with my father , is unknown to me.
My mother is the daughter of a clerk at the mine ( Cozla Mjne) which is near the landing station at Dreszkewo.

My mother’s parents lived in Szeinica(?) Most probably my mother had three sisters and one brother ( Wilhelm) . The oldest sister was Matylda who married Captain Reis (Wilhelm ? ) Reis had a son from his first marriage, who became an officer. A little before the war (1913) he was a Lieutenant Colonel and commanded a garrison in Görz *
The second sister was called Fani Two sisters apparently drowned in the Danube whilst bathing .
My mother’s sisters probably interfered too much in the business of the newly-weds, to the extent that a variety of frictions was created between my Mother and Father. It even got to the point that the eldest sister Matylda, most probably a dressmaker by training, – a dress, made from material which my father had bought , which she was making for my mother, actually fitted one of the sisters. This happened several times. This behaviour drove my father off-balance one day and he ordered the sister to leave the house, forbidding her in the future to ever cross his threshold again. Mother, offended by such behaviour on Father’s part, would then go out every morning and visit her parents in Szeinica leaving me in the care of the servants.
The servant in order to have more peace and quiet would feed me with heavy wine. The result of drinking this heavy wine was that I would drop off to sleep straightaway.
After some time I would myself search out this wine. One day my father returned from the forest and discovered me amongst the wine barrels where I was producing some very strange noises. I was reeking of wine. The servant was not at home. Mother returned from Szeinica in the company of her elder sister. This drove my father to complete distraction and he forbade her entry into the house. There were several similar instances over the course of a short time and they all ended with a sharp exchange of words. The interference of strangers (Aptus Reis) only made the situation worse. The result was a complete severance of relations and all attempts at reconciliation ended unsuccessfully. Neither side would give way .
The dissolution of the marriage was an easy matter as my parents only had a civil wedding. My father took the blame equally with my mother.
