Love of Seven Dolls

This beautiful book jacket by David Knight covers one of my very favourite books of all time: “Love of Seven Dolls” by Paul Gallico. It perfectly epitomises the power of theatre, puppetry and storytelling. Not a children’s book at all, but appeals to the innermost child in any adult. I received this edition for my birthday this year – it is almost as old as I am. The book itself was published the year after I was born. Set in Paris – is this why Paris is my favourite city? It tells of the fate of an unhappy young woman and the transformative relationship she has with the puppet master and the dolls themselves. Please let me know if you have ever read it.
