Malaga

We came back from Malaga about four weeks ago. Six days of bliss, mainly because we had six unadulterated days of our four month old grandson. Unfortunately I can’t share any pictures of him, but suffice it to say that if I did, the internet would be awash the most gorgeous baby in the world. But then I’m biased!

Sunset Obviously!

We went because my daughter’s husband was away on business and they thought it would be nice for to go to the sunshine with her baby, parents and brother. So we did.

She rented an enormous flat in the centre of Malaga and we had the most amazing time.

I’ve been to Malaga several times before and thought I knew it well. How wrong could I be! We arrived by cab from the airport and went past a castle and an amphitheatre. id never seen either before. In fact they were both not more than 500 yards from where we stayed before and less than 300 from where we stayed this time! In the past we always turned right when we left our very central hotel. We should have turned left!

Yes. Creepy

We didn’t do much dedicated sightseeing. Hard to with a baby, even the most delightful baby in the world. But we went on lots of walks and to lots of nice restaurants and cafes. Everytime we booked a table I would ask if we could bring the pram. Of course. How nice was the inevitable answer. No matter how much the pram blocked the sidles no one ever complained. So reassuring!

The picture above is of figures representing the penitents of Holy Week. Beautifully made but not in the least tempting.

The alcazar

Stunning. We went up to part of in the day time.

Musical instrument

We did go to one museum, the interactive musical museum. This could have been fun, but there were a couple of families who were not just interactive but hyperactive, so no one else got the chance to try anything out. But in one of the display cases was this little instrument. I found it interesting because over fifty years ago I received an identical one for my 21st birthday. I have an absolutely no idea what happened to it, though.

The town hall.

The above is one of the lovelier buildings in Malaga. Wedding cake springs to mind

Inside the cathedral. It is much smaller inside than you imagine from walking round it on the outside.

These six days were the best. It’s interesting that when you are with a baby you have to be in the moment and stay focused all the time. No time to worry or even think about anything else. So good for the soul!

  1. My Father had one of those musical instruments when we lived in Gordon Road. He used it to frighten off the Jay birds in the garden when they were being particularly noisy. Now who gave it to him is a mystery. Could it have been you??????
